The video was OK. It set the stage for the conversation, but I don't think it was very engaging.

The resulting conversation, however, was fantastic. They demonstrated an awareness of their ability to persevere (whether they quit easily or not), talked about how they judge if they quit too easily, and why they work harder in this class then they do in some other classes--it turns out that these lessons have gone a long way to indicate to them that we (there are 2 teachers in this section) are concerned about them, and they are willing to work harder for us as a result. As we move through the week, we will try and point out the need to persevere when there is not the emotional attachment to motivate them (do it for themselves).

They brought up that it is important to try multiple ways to finish something before quitting. That will be a mantra of the class: have you tried multiple ways to solve it?
